This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you know what is like to stare at a blank screen? That's how my 2nd grade students feel. Our classroom has wireless internat connection, a projector, but no laptop to connect the projector and display the great resources in the Internet. We need technology in our classroom!
Our outdated laptop finally gave up.
It won't not turn on at all. It is heartbreaking to see the disappointed faces of my 7 year old every morning. Just when they were so excited to connect to the Internet and work with interactive language arts and math activities, we had to put it on hold. For them, this is the only opportunity they have to work with a computer because they do not have access to one at home. My children come from families that have just enough money for food and shelter. Many are unemployed. I can only imagine how much their enthusiasm to come to school and participate in class would grow again if we had a fast working Mac Book. I could connect it to our projector and our wireless network to continue to enhance their eager minds. On the meantime, I have to go back to the boring way of writing on the white board with a marker in the age of technology!
My Project
A Mac Book and the mini Apple iPads are the perfect solution to our problem! We can connect to our language arts program Online, our math program, and Starfall to utilize all the videos, pictures, and interactive lessons. We can download pictures and materials for each of our reading, math, science, and social studies themes as well. This will help increase the children's engagement and enthusiasm dramatically once again. It will facilitate and enhance the learning of all my visual and auditory learners.
