My Students

My students are the youngest learners in our public schools. They walk in my door for their first experience in the public school system. With a fun and energizing spirit, we strive to laugh and learn each day. We explore through books, writing, and lots of playing.

My students are wonderful kindergarteners who are excited to go to school everyday.

For some, school is the safest place they will be all day. Most of my students come from a less fortunate background and have little to no technology at home. Many students have never even used a computer before entering school. They are all from low income homes, and all of them receive free lunch. My kids struggle daily in their home lives. Many come to school because they know there is food at school and a caring environment. These children are in dire need of a quality education and their age cries out for learning through technology. Some of my students are special education students at an elementary school in a high poverty area. They have many fine motor concerns that make it difficult to do things.

My Project

Technology is by far becoming the newest way to educate our students in the classroom today. I would like to get a lap top computer in my classroom to develop computer and Internet savvy kindergartners. . It will allow them to enhance their learning using technology the same as their classmates. It will give them the opportunity to be a part of 21st Century learning. My students need a computer that works for them. Several of my students have major fine motor concerns that make it difficult for them to manipulate a keyboard or mouse. Kindergarten is so critical to a child's success in school. This is where the foundation is laid for every child. If students are unable to get a good foundation then learning will become a miserable and frightening experience. With the proper technology students will have every chance to be successful and learning will take place.

Students using a laptop would be able to collaborate, analyze and present information we can't get.

They will learn much more from these experiences. Many of our Kindergarten topics will take on new meaning and learning will be enhanced with this needed addition to our technological education as well as it's impact on all other areas of our curriculum. Please help inspire my 5 and 6 year olds to think. Let them move beyond our current limitations to an educational experience that can motivate and show them more opportunities. This simple laptop will expose them to learning methods that will enhance our classroom academic progress so that every child for years will use it and understand the future possibilities are truly endless.
