My Students
Technology is moving at the speed of light but my classroom is stuck in the past! Remember when the VHS tape was in? Well it still is in my room! My class is in desperate need of new technology! We are lucky to have a projector but could access so many online resources with a connecting laptop!
We are a small community school in a giant district.
We have students of mixed abilities and backgrounds. Due to our size and mixed background (over 50% Title One or low poverty) we often get overlooked as not being desperate enough to qualify for resources. But all children deserve a quality education!
My Project
Ever met a kid who didn't like cartoons? Well if I asked the same question but said reading or math the answer would probably be different. Today's technology can combine the best of both worlds and students can learn while having fun. Our Language Arts and Math programs both have many online and video resources but without a laptop to access it my students are left in the dark. There is no end to the materials available online, videos and songs that teach number sense, stories that can be projected to teach comprehension, science videos and lessons to promote life long learners and it's all just a short click away, if you have a laptop!
Technology inspires learning.
Many of my students do not have computers at home. They would benefit immensely from exposure to modern day technology. Online projects and videos inspire even the reluctant students to pay attention and have fun while learning. A laptop will help me project these materials to make them accessible for the entire class! Please help inspire my students by giving them a chance to see what technology can do in the classroom.
