Image being excited about reading! Literacy is critical to my students' success in high school and college. Unfortunately my students need help. Since, technology is such an integral part of the today's culture, reading in the reader format will provide a new dimension and motivation to classwork.
My students are wonderful, creative people that despite their situation have a positive attitude in life.
The majority live in poverty and qualify for free lunches. They do not have background and exposure to best serve them when taking the NYS Regents exams. For the last two years, I was able to provide them with a science enrichment day at Cornell University. It was amazing to see my students working in world class laboratories. They loved it and I believe it inspired some to pursue their interest in science. However without the technology and supplies in my classroom, I fear that I cannot give them the best opportunities
My Project
With the addition of NOOkS to our science classroom, more students will be able to have a technology based reading experience. With over 2 Million Titles to choose from, the possibilities are endless...from forensics to biology...WOW! Help me provide a technological reading experience for my students in my classroom.
I envision students developing a love and a desire for reading, which will prepare them for success in high school, college and their future careers! Help me inspire my reluctant and struggling readers.

A vast number of my students are reading two grade levels below their current grade.
If they are to graduate from high school and go to college it is critical to stop this trend.
I believe this project is not just important to me, it's fundamental to my many students that are struggling readers. This would assist them in having a means by which to read that is technology based and could be used for many more years to come by many students.
