This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My wonderful class is made up of a large percentage of English language Learners and Special Education Students. They receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Many of my students come from single parent households and hard working families who speak very little english. Many of their parents are not able to supply them with the technology that they need in this day and age to be successful and to become college ready.
My students are willing to work hard and try their best to be successful.
Many of them are visual and audio learners. Technology is essential in reaching their goals, participating in remote learning if need be, and preparing them to be life long learners. Unfortunately my classroom is extremely limited in that department. We are in desperate need of tablets so that they may improve their vocabulary, increase their reading levels and enhance math skills.
My Project
If we have learned anything from this pandemic, it is the need for all students to have access to technology and an understanding of how to use it. Tablets can be used to improve study skills, enhance their learning and allow them to work on their appropriate levels. Tablets will be great tools to use in my classroom as part of a lesson, remediation or enrichment in all subject areas. There are so many resources available to students online, but unfortunately without the proper device, my students cannot benefit from them
