Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in Miami-Dade County and the majority of the students are Hispanic. Since our student's parents do not have the means to provide for a better education outside of public school, they depend on our resources to ensure they excel and become vital members of our society. My students are fun, vibrant, and have the true desire to succeed in their studies. Since this is an elementary school, the importance of establishing the foundation of a solid education is paramount. My students live for the American dream and hope to contribute to society more than their parents have. With that said, isn't that how America works? The parents of the children advancing hope for the best of things to come. In a community largely Hispanic, it is amazing to see how far these children would like to advance in their education and how hard they work to do so. My only hope is that they are successful and it is due to programs such as these that impact lives of children around the globe.
My Project
My students need a laptop to work on their writing skills. Why not start early in first grade by teaching students how to be technology savvy? They will also use the laptop to connect to the projector to play reading games together, which will be teaching them how to work together. By having a laptop, I can teach my students the skills they need to learn for the future.
My students are creative and given the opportunity to discover various ways to learn, they will be able to examine similar projects done by other schools and even be given the opportunity to connect with others.
