This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Can you imagine being a passionate, brilliant learner, but due to the area in which you're growing up you don't have access the same resources and experiences as other students in more affluent areas?
I teach first grade in a high poverty community in Souther California.
We are a public Title I school, with the majority of students receiving free or reduced lunch. Due to the lack of funding, budget cuts, the disheartening fact is that students in the inner-city frankly do not have the same resources or experiences as students in more affluent areas. I am asking for your help to provide them with technology resources needed to make education fun and accessible by all of my students.
My Project
My students would greatly benefit from having an iPad center in class. An iPad can provide endless opportunities for students not only with the introduction of technology, but also with providing multiple ways of learning. Not all students can learn from listening, many are visual learners, while others need a hands on approach. Having an iPad center will benefit students by allowing them to use different apps that will target skills needed to become proficient readers. Having an iPad center will motivate my students to become better readers and inspire them to reach their goals. The iTunes gift cards will allow us to purchase different educational apps. Having different apps will allow my students to practice "boring" skills in a fun and interactive way. They will be able to practice their reading, sight words, math facts, and so much more.
Knowing that today's world is technologically driven, it makes perfect sense to address the needs of our students in a digital fashion.
Please help bring these invaluable resources to our classroom. My students have very little and to have an iPad center in class will greatly benefit their academic growth in multiple ways. Please allow me to incorporate technology into my everyday lessons to maximize the learning of every student.
