Technology in the Music Room

My Students

My students are always looking for new and interesting ways that they can use technology in their day to day life. In music class, they always ask if we can use some sort of technology and always go above and beyond with their creativity and using what resources we have for them.

My students are curious, excited, intelligent, and hard working (but doesn't every teacher think that of their students?).

One thing in particular that my students love are our center days in music class. This gives the students an opportunity to work on at least four different projects or games in one half-hour class. I have all sorts of games and activities for them, and it is also a very sneaky way of adding in assessments without the students even knowing! Another activity that my students love are our guided listening units! I have a few different songs for the students to listen to and they have to answer questions on paper and then we have a discussion as a class. My students actually asked me if I could make guided listening a part of our centers activities so they could have smaller group discussions about the music. I was so impressed by their wanting for these resources, I thought I would try and make it happen

My Project

Like stated above, I plan on using these resources in my centers planning. I have plans on using them for not only guided listening, but also for projects in the music room. There is a new curriculum program that I love using, Quaver, and within Quaver there are projects for the students to do and it includes them being on either a laptop or tablet. I love using technology in the music room and I love seeing the students' faces light up when we use different technology resources.

No matter what school a person is at, it is always amazing to see the impact that new products have on the students.

These products will not only be able to impact the students in a positive way, but will also impact their ability to have a conversation about a piece of music.
