The students in my class and at this school have a variety of challenges. All receive a free breakfast every morning and 50% or more also receive a free lunch. This helps them focus better on their education. Most of them live in a low-income neighborhood where both parents work.
My 4th grade class is made up of 22 amazing students, many who are bilingual.
A lot of my students live with blended families. They have parents who are supportive but have limited resources. They are achieving despite their challenges. Our mascot is the tiger and these students are ready to pounce on learning.
My Project
My students need technology so they can compete and thrive in the real world. Some of my students don’t have a computer available to them at home. Others have very slow and outdated computers. In our classroom, we have two computers for the class to share. These are located on top of a counter, above shelves, in a classroom designed before computers. These two computers are old and very slow. I would love to help my students learn to read, practice math and research science on updated technology! Chromebooks would give my students the flexibility of staying in the classroom but exploring the world.
More than half of students from low‑income households
