My students are a great group of students who are filled with a lot of energy. They are a mixture of Brooklyn natives and recent immigrants to our country. I have a large population of recent Yemeni immigrants. They come to school every single day excited to learn. Their excitement pushes me to do my best every day.
Many of my recent Yemeni immigrants have experienced years of interrupted schooling, destruction of their homes and family members that have been lost due to the conflict in their home country.
Many of my students are also struggling in low income households, but despite all of their trauma, these kids are resilient and inspire me in new ways every day!
My Project
My students weight train year round. They record all their data on paper and have to upload it onto the computer when they get home. It would be easier for them if they had access to technology right in the gym so we can immediately log all their successes and plateaus. They would also be able to watch YouTube videos on proper form and different exercises as well as educate themselves on anatomy and physiology of the human body through exercise.
Technology in the gym will help the evolution of my physical education classes.
Physical education has become much more than just team sports. An iPad will absolutely help advance my classes for the better!
