My dancers at this inner city arts-magnet school are a group of students who reflect the diversity of their city both ethnically and socio-economically. These students dedicate themselves whole-heartedly to intensive arts education program, even if their situation in life is not ideal. These students spend countless hours in rehearsals, in classroom training, and still manage to maintain their academic career as well. The students on this dance team are held to a higher academic standard than what our district requires. The must be passing all of their academic classes with a C average or better. This group is 5 time state champs, winning 4 years in a row! These students also frequently perform throughout the community and give back whenever they can. These students go above and beyond!
My Project
My dancers not only study dance technique classes but they also study the history of dance. My students want to be able to capture the technology of the 21st century and apply it to their intensive study of dance. The Acer Chromebooks that I am requesting will allow my students to access the internet for research into their creative pursuits, and also allow them to master the application of technology in the arts. Students will be able to use the Chromebooks to complete online assignments through our Google classroom, as well as research inspiration for scenes and shows that they are designing. In addition, as a class, we can use the Chromebooks to access exemplars of dance works through databases of video performances.
