Mental health in children is becoming increasingly apparent and is a component teachers must deal with in the classroom daily. Children are not equipped with the right tools in self-regulation, resolving conflicts, and problem solving with peers. With an increase in conflicts in the classroom I have decided to go back to school and get a certificate in School-Based Mental Health. Through this program I will be better able to make a meaningful impact on children by focusing on understanding how their adverse trauma can result in behaviors in the classroom. I will also be better able to promote resilience and positive behaviors through the tools and resources I have learned from the program.
This computer will help do the coursework at home and will also allow me to create projects, slides, and resources for my students to use in the classroom.
Being up-to-date in the latest research can help improve classroom culture and can also help prevent mental health problems from developing later on. It helps students develop resilience, coping skills, and emotional intelligence.
