Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am currently employed at a Title I school that has a high number of children from low-income families.
About 75% of the student population qualifies for free or reduced rate lunch.
My students are enrolled in the dual-language program, where they receive instruction in both English and Spanish. My students are motivated and hard working.
The majority of my students are Spanish speakers and are in need of big books to help improve their ability to read fluently on grade level.
My Project
My students are always excited to learn, but with limited funding it is hard to provide my students with all of the materials they need to successfully learn the standards being taught. This year my school district is implementing a new computer program called iReady. This program was created to increase students' technology, reading and math skills. I currently only have three outdated computers in my classroom and 36 students. Having an additional two Chromebook laptops would be an amazing addition to my classroom. It would allow my students to all have a chance to use this new program and other educational applications daily.
