This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine waking up, Monday through Friday at 5:00 am and having to be at your bus site by 6:00 am. You head to your school that is 32 miles away, sitting in traffic and then embarking on a full day of enriched education, knowing you won't be home after sun set. This is the daily life of 75% of my students.
Students are sacrificing their sleep, traveling 32 miles every day, away from home to receive their education.
Not many students have the advantage of attending their resident school, being close to home. I teach students with Specific Learning Disabilities in a Special Day Class program. It is my responsibility to expose students to the optimum education experience they deserve.
My Project
Having a Chromebook laptop in our classroom will be the initiation to our soon to come technology center. As a school, we are constantly working on project based assignments that require students to collaborate in groups and conduct research using textbooks and different online sources. Additionally, students will have access to our Accelerated Reading program in our class. They will be allowed to read leveled material and complete online comprehension tests.
It is critical we prepare and strengthen our students'skills within the use of technology to guide them to the route of success.
They will feel confident and qualified to conquer any upcoming tasks and lead them to their forthcoming career.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
