My Students

Hello. Thank you for viewing my project. I am a 5/6th grade special education teacher in a public school in Far Rockaway, Queens. My students thrive when technology is included in their daily curriculum and routine. Unfortunately, we don’t have the funds to provide any technology so my students have to learn without.

Currently, I am raising money for one iPad so my students have an opportunity to be successful and integrate technology in their daily routine!

Being a Special education teacher, most of my students benefit from many different modes of learning. For my students who cannot read, having an iPad can help them listen to stories in the classroom. Also, If I had an iPad in my classroom I could utilize learning apps to help support instruction; due to the age range in my room as well as the range in ability levels. Technology and Special Education goes hand and hand and these students need an opportunity to be successful in their education!

My Project

My students benefit greatly from technology in our classroom. When we are researching units in the classroom, or have free time (ex. when they come up for lunch), our students do not have the opportunity to use technology because our school cannot provide additional resources for every classroom! If my students had an IPad in the classroom, they would be able to use it to listen to stories, research for a project, or even listen to music on their free time. Please help us with this project, so our students have an opportunity to use technology in the classroom! Thank you so much!
