Technology in the 1st Grade!

Help me give my students a charging station for their Chromebooks and classroom materials to help them be successful!

My Students

I have 20 wonderful, unique and diverse 1st grade students, many of whom come from low income families. Because of COVID, this is their first year being in school full-time.

They are so excited to be in the classroom full-time this year!

My Project

My students are learning to use technology and are using Chromebooks in the classroom on a daily basis. Having a charging station would be a wonderful benefit to our classroom. The charging station will help my students to learn to take responsibility for their Chromebooks and ensure that they are charged nightly.

The organization that the charging station will provide will help prevent the safety hazard of cords all over the classroom.

We also spend a lot of time in our classroom writing on our whiteboards - practicing math, spelling words and even free drawing. Unfortunately, we go through TONS of dry erase markers. Because my students are only 6, they are constantly losing their markers, leaving the lids off, or pressing too hard and ruining the tips. Having LCD writing tablets will be a game changer in our classroom. No more stopping in the middle of the lesson to pull out a new box of markers.

Lastly, having table dividers will help with those wandering eyes during the numerous assessments that we are required to give. Students will be able to maintain their integrity and not feel tempted to peek at their neighbors work!
