My Students

We live in a world where knowledge of technology is critical. My students need this just as much as everyone, but most do not have it available at home. They need to have access to technology at school.

My students are curious and eager to learn.

Though our resources are limited, my students make the most of what we have and are always inquiring about what we'll do next. They love to use our class computer to practice previous lessons, find information, have stories read to them, or simply play games. Unfortunately, only one computer for a class of 25 students limits their access and options for lessons that fully utilize this technology.

My Project

If my students don't have access to computers and related technology at school, it is likely they won't get it anywhere else. Being exposed to this at an early age will not only help them keep up with their wealthier peers, but they will be able to take ownership of their learning. I will use the additional computer to form an actual computer workstation within my classroom. One computer is not enough to do this, but two could begin to make a difference.

All children need to have their talents nurtured and be given the resources to meet their full potential.

Technology in schools is a flexible way to do this while engaging the student and helping him/her develop critical thinking skills. The achievement gap is real and the technology gap plays a huge role in this. By adding this one piece of technology to my classroom, I can provide my students with hours of additional technology-based instruction throughout the school year.
