My Students
I am a first-year Special Education teacher of 12 inquisitive young minds ranging from the ages of 8-10. Our school is located in a diverse neighborhood and currently a Title 1 school that is beginning to transition into the Teachers' College Curriculum. My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds; some of which are from low-income homes. Nonetheless, they are a spirited and very energectic bunch. My classroom consists of students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilties, and developmental and communicative delays.
I am working on meeting my students' learning needs by creating a space that provides the best educational experiences.
This will be a space they can call a second home as they are encouraged to be themselves and try their best always. I believe students with special needs require an educational space with much differentiated instruction and the essential tools required to target their learning styles. With your help, this can definitely be possible.
My Project
Technology offers many educational benefits within a classroom, especially amongst young minds. It's true, technology has become the highlight of the 21st century. For this project, I am implementing tablets for the students to share as part of my differentiated instructions; they will also allow me to better target the preferential learning styles of my students. With abundant resources and apps that can further enhance my instructions, I am hoping I can spike the interests of my students and engage them throughout lessons.
By encouraging students to learn in the way that’s most comfortable for them, students can absorb and recall classroom information more readily.
