Technology + Fourth Graders = Inspired and Engaged Learners!
My students need access to tablets to access reading, math, and science apps that will improve their learning and increase their research, problem-solving, and reading skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the amazing opportunity to teach 28 energetic and engaging fourth graders! They are problem solvers and critical thinkers!
My students love using technology to be successful learners!
We love project-based learning and authentic writing and math activities.
I teach in a Title I school in a suburban setting. My classroom consists of students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, family dynamics, and living situations. My students come from one parent homes, two parent homes, foster homes, group homes, and homes where they are raised by a grandparent, aunt or uncle. Regardless of where my students come from, when they enter my classroom they become authors, scientists, mathematicians, readers, artists, musicians, and creators of amazing projects!
My classroom scholars have a variety of abilities, background knowledge, writing, and communication skills. In order to provide each scholar with quality instruction, I provide engaging learning activities for each student at his/her learning level. It is extremely important to me that each of my scholars are able to learn and advance sills at their optimal learning level.
My Project
My fourth-grade scholars are loving accessing technology as often as we can during the day. Although we have access to laptops, there are times when the time it takes to log in, sign on, and access a website takes more time than we have left in our learning block.
Access to tablets would enable my scholars to access apps to practice math fluency, reading comprehension, and problem-solving skills.
These skills are the foundation that all other skills build upon for the rest of their education.
As a teacher, I try to create a fluid environment to maximize learning for each of my scholars. The tablets will be used to create rotations during math and literacy times. This will assure student engagement and assist in small group instruction.
My scholars love technology! They love games and competing with each other with technology. With these tablets, I can't WAIT to bring engaging learning to my scholars!
