My Students
I teach at a Title I school in Missouri where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students come from house holds where parents are working two or three jobs just to maintain. Despite financial obstacles my students come to school each and every day excited to learn! It amazes me the strength and optimism they have at just the tender age of 7 years old. They truly have the weight of the world on their shoulders. I teach in the largest elementary school in the district that serves more than 600 students. With recent budget cuts we are still trying to inspire young minds to grow. They are building ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers... They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long successful career.
My Project
Technology is all around us and constantly evolving. If used correctly, mobile devices and the applications they support such as Fire Tablets, will help prepare students for their future careers. It only makes sense to prepare our youth with the tools they are going to need to be successful lawyers, politicians, teachers, doctors, lawyers, construction workers, etc. Integrating technology into the classroom is an effective way to connect with students of all learning styles. It gives students the opportunity to enhance the interaction with their classmates and instructors by encouraging collaboration.

Students have access to an incredible amount of new opportunities. From learning how to code to learning how to better collaborate across teams and with their instructors--technology empowers students to be more creative and be more connected. New tech has super-charged how we learn today.
It is important that as technology evolves we evolve in schools to better prepare students for challenges they may face post graduation. As a teacher I feel that I am servicing my students by giving them the opportunity to learn the new ways of life. Most students today have been using mobile devices like tablets and smartphones to play and learn since they could crawl. So it only seems logical to align today's classrooms with the way that your students want and are used to learning. Technology is everywhere! And it is important they use it the correct way. Please help me help my students learn in ways they never imagined to be possible.
