Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every morning my students come into the room ready to learn. Long gone are the days of opening the textbook and using paper and pencil. These students crave technology and research.
The students in my classroom don't come from the families where they can have all of the most popular technology devices.
My school has roughly 1,700 students and nearly 200 teachers and staff. 90% of the students are on free or reduced lunch and English is a second language for many of these kids.
My Project
My students need 2 iPad minis to support and help their drive for learning. These iPads will be used for reading and math support. These two pieces of technology that I am hoping to add to my classroom, will give these kids a chance to listen to stories in English, practice their spelling and practice their math skills.
Reading for these students is difficult since English is their second language. Many of my kids are below grade level. Having these pieces of technology will allow them to play games like iTooch, Word Domino, and Spelling City.
Math games like Math Dots, Turbo Math and Addimals will be used daily if this project is funded. Math has become a harder concept to grasp for many students and having the extra technology will be sure to improve these kids skills.
Watching my students learn and grow is what makes me be a better teacher for them.
I believe adding these pieces of technology can be used in so many ways to improve their learning and help them succeed in their life.
