My students desire the ability to use technology in the classroom. They tire of textbooks that do not engage the learner. I would like to see my students become active learners, interacting locally and globally.

My students are Specific Learning Disabled and Emotionally Behavioral Disturbed(ESE).
The school they attend is located in a low socio-economic area. The school is equipped with very little computers and the computers they have are out dated dinosaurs that run extremely slow or do not work at all !
My students do not have computers in the classroom. Only two of the fifteen students in my class have a computer in the home. They fight for the use of the one ipad that they share within the classroom.
My Project
The use of computers in the classroom will allow students to interact and compete locally and globally using the super information highway. Research has shown that computers can assist in improving students achievement. This includes achievement in several different areas. For example, motivation is increased when we use technology in the classroom . In addition, it helps to prepare students for the outside world. Finally, technology can offer resources and experiences that books are not able to offer.
"Technology-rich schools report higher attendance and lower dropout rates than in the past." Students are found to be challenged, engaged, and more independent when using technology.
Donations to this project will improve my classroom by, increasing students' motivation, achievement, and preparation for the outside world. Lessons will be interesting and hands on.
