My students need 6 tablets (Kindle fire) and tablet sleeves for our independent station for Blended Learning. They also need privacy partitions for better concentration.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Whole group instruction does not provide differentiation and individualized learning for my scholars, who range from emergent readers to fluent, chapter book readers. Small group instruction with practice on technology usage, will maximize the learning for these students who are eager to learn.
My scholars hail from very diverse backgrounds, from military "brats" to longshoremen offspring, to families that have lived in the neighborhood of our school community for decades.
Because of this, our school is considered a transient school with many students coming in and out, based on where their parents need to be. This causes inconsistency in their learning and often the students suffer and are left behind in their learning. Nevertheless, they are eager to learn and absorb what's happening in the classroom and yearn to belong. Providing them with small group instruction with a technology component (a Kindle) will enhance their learning and maximize each learning minute individualized for the student's specific needs. They will benefit greatly with the usage of technology in the classroom environment on a daily basis.
My Project
My students need 6 tablets (Kindle fire) and tablet sleeves for our independent station for Blended Learning. They also need privacy partitions for better concentration. Picture a classroom where some scholars are receiving direct instruction, while others are in small groups working on a project or an activity. Others may be independently accessing educational programs and apps online to enhance their learning, individualizing their own education, whether it is learning a new concept, watching a video of a lesson reteach, or researching information for writing. The Kindles, along with their protective sleeves, will allow for the scholars at the independent station, to either focus on phonics skills or watch a writer's workshop video that will reteach a focus lesson (or review a math concept that the scholar might've missed during whole group instruction). Meanwhile, the privacy partitions will help the scholars focus on their personal work during whole group instruction and assessments on a weekly basis. Pens ordered will allow for them to concentrate on writing during Writer's Workshop, instead of worrying about spelling and making erasures.
Your help and donations will greatly help this Title I school be more successful and academically prepared for 21st century learning.
These tablets that you will donate will assist to individualize the learning for these scholars and maximize each learning minute to their specific learning ability. You will allow for these scholars to be more accountable for their own learning, knowledge, and growth, giving them access to the concepts each student needs to master the most.
