Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Can you imagine not having supplies that are nessecary to live your daily life? Imagine a world where everything you do must use pictures in order to communicate. How frustrating if those pictures get ruined. How great to avoid that happening by laminating them and allowing your vocabulary to grow.
My students are diagnosed as having Autism and are between the ages of 5 and 7.
They attend a public school in an inner city. The public school is in a poverty stricken area where most of the students receive free lunch because of the low levels of poverty. These children predominantly suffer from the inability to communicate, inability to engage in social interaction, poor fine and gross motor skills, and sensory over stimulation.
My Project
These resources will allow us to laminate the pictures that the students use day in and out in order to communicate and express themselves. It must be so frustrating having a limited vocabulary based only on pictures that I make available for these students. Can you imagine if those pictures are continuously getting ripped, or ruined? How frustrating it must be to have to continuously make new pictures and try to keep an extensive vocabulary. If my students have a laminator available this will no longer be an issue because my students will be able to laminate the pictures and keep them in their vocabulary for a much longer period of time. What a great things to grantee the gift of speech.
Your donation will make a difference in the everyday lives of my students.
My students will have an extensive vocabulary because you have given them a better chance at communicating. Please think about how important your speech is to you. If you had to stay in silence just for one day how frustrating it must be for you, what about these innocent children who have these frustrations everyday for their lives. You can help make the gift of speech one step closer to reality.
