This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

It feels so long since I have seen both my students and our classroom. We have weekly chats and video sessions, but it is not the same. But it is the safest option for now due to the pandemic. I have made many changes to accommodate to this new online teaching transition. I have installed Wi-Fi in my house, changed a room to resemble a classroom which I feel needs a few more things to help my new home classroom come alive with my virtual lessons.

Even though my students face a lot of challenges at times, they still have positive attitudes, and are eager and ready to learn, which is what makes me come ready to teach them with love and kindness.

My Project

The district that I work for has implemented the hybrid model, which means that I teach my students who come in physically to our classroom, as well as my students who are learning online. In the beginning the district had said they were going to provide us with body cams but now have said otherwise. The students who stay home are not able to see what I write on the board and because my students are heavily reliant on visuals that makes it difficult to teach.

Help my virtual students receive the same instruction as my students in the classroom with me.

The students who do come in person are not able to change manipulatives as often as they could pre-COVID-19, so they heavily rely on technology for workstations. Again, the district is taking a long time supplying us with the necessary technology and I sometimes have students who do not have technology to use the online platforms during workstations.

With your help I will be able to provide the technology needed during workstations. If we go virtual, I will be able to check out the iPad I have requested until my students do receive a technology device from the district.
