This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, I see my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.

Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My class who lives in a low income neighborhood is affected by the coronavirus pandemic in so many ways. First of all, students are not receiving a hands-on approach to learning. Never did I think that when I dismissed my students on March 13th, that would have been the last time I would be able to hug them goodbye for the last time this school year. Secondly, a few of my students have yet to connect online due to a lack of technology or internet service. This project will allow students to be a part of the remote learning classroom.

My Project

Help me give my students an HP Chromebook to enrich all subject areas, especially reading, phonics, and mathematics. Imagine having students listen to the same story on the laptop that the teacher read during live instruction moments ago. Students will be able to listen to the story for a second time for understanding, fluency, or word recognition. Students will engage in math games and interactive activities to promote understanding of math concepts and strategies learned on these Chromebooks, also. As well as learning, students will be able to use the Chromebooks to do research on concepts in reading, science, social studies, math, and writing.

My students will be in a risk-free environment at home and getting ready for college and career through the use of technology implementation.

Students will be able to be successful in all subject areas through the use of technology in the classroom. Using these laptops students will be able to reread stories that were read throughout the day in order to get a better understanding of the details in the stories, the sequence of events, and the central message of the stories. They will be able to keep up with remote learning.
