This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach Mathematics and Science to 54 students in 2 class sections in a Title I school near Chicago. They are hard working and brilliant students who work harder than any other group of 5th graders I've ever met! Between my two classes I have a wide range of ability levels between 2nd grade and high school math.
Nancy Kassebaum says, “There can be infinite uses of the computer and of new age technology, but if teachers themselves are not able to bring it into the classroom and make it work, then it fails.” Each day we have at least 2 periods of math that include large group instruction, video lessons, small group instruction, games, and independent practice.
I have tried to incorporate technology in every day instruction because it allows my students to truly practice their skills and learn in today's day and age.
My Project
Technology is all around us and should be used in every day learning. Its a valuable tool for assessment, instruction, and guided and independent practice. We need a class set of Chromebooks to make learning interactive and engaging through the web!
My number one goal is to build a paperless classroom and that cannot be done without your help!
Our paperless classroom would include interactive online discussions, lessons through various sites, flipped classroom, ands much more! I want students to learn how to use technology to enhance learning because they are surrounded by technology daily!! Please consider donating to these kiddos!
