This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project hopes to support the work of our schools Restorative Justice Student Leaders. This is a small group of 6 students who have prepared for this role by taking a semester long course in facilitating a variety of protocols for their peers. Their daily work includes mediating peer-to-peer conflict, welcome circles for students new to the school, support circles for students who are struggling in one way or another, and harm circles to help repair something they did to the community or it's stakeholders.

Currently the student RJ leaders take notes on paper.

This is true for the briefing and debriefing process as well as during the session itself.

For this project we are requested two iPads that will allow our students to take notes during sessions that are then directly uploaded to our record keeping spreadsheet that we use to debrief meetings, and plan future meetings. The use of technology in this setting will allow quicker and seamless communication, improved organization, and an air of professionalism that will loan itself to the impact the students are able to have during a given session.
