My Students...
"Mrs. Bowman, can we create a Power point that compares and contrasts Ancient Greek Olympic, and add pictures that we researched on-line, as well as insert some videos we made?"
I want to be able to say yes to this frequent request!
My students consist of 5th and 6th graders who rotate to me for ELA and Social Studies.
These are very curious students, who do not want to stop their learning because the lesson is over, but want to explore other branches of the area they are studying. Many students do not have access to the type of technology at home that will allow them to explore and create, so providing it in the classroom is essential for their growth.
My Project
As we work through cross curricular lessons, students need to create formal documents to express and publish their learning. With 2 outdated, student computers, this limits how many students are able to do this. Students will be able to collaboratively work together to create slide shows, Power Points, graphic on-line novels, short videos, web quests, virtual tours and a plethora of other activities. They will learn a variety of communication skills and share their creations with other students. In addition to enhancing their lesson, it will also allow some students to work on specific skill areas that they are struggling with.
This project will enhance student's knowledge by providing additional learning opportunities to learn, explore, create, share and well as understand how technology is present in the world and in their future careers.
