My students need laptops to be able to complete everyday tasks at school. It benefits them to be able to go on reading and math websites to improve their deficient skills as they cannot at home.
My students are hardworking children that come from impoverished homes. Many of them are the first of their families to be English language learners.
Our students come to school every day ready to learn and outdo what they have done the day before.
We set goals in each of the content areas which our students aim to achieve. This is not easy in a low income, Title I school, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the many challenges that our students face, they are always ready and excited to learn.
My Project
These laptops will make such a huge difference in the lives of my newly entering students. They can go on reading websites to learn letter sounds and begin to read books on their levels in a private nonjudgmental setting. They are also able to go on various math
websites to improve skills they are deficient in as well.
Many of my students come from impoverished homes or from homes that are new to America. They do not have the means to buy computers. In a classroom of 32 students, we only have 4 working computers to use. With 55% of my class perform at k/1 grade level and 26% perform at a 3/4 grade level, this will be quite beneficial!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
