This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from lower socioeconomic homes. They simply have not experience technology for reading, writing, research... The school is a title one school and there is very little money for classroom purchases. There simply is no money to provide these students with new technology.
I teach students with moderate to severe disabilities, such as students with autism and Down's syndrome and significant learning delays.
They attend a title one school. Most are English Language learners and face difficult home life's within their lower socio-economic environments.
My Project
My students are sweet kids, eager to learn and succeed. They are from lower income families, who do not have computers at home. They simply have not had access to current technologies available in some schools and classrooms. They love to learn and experience new things. They would be in complete awe of something like an Ipad where they could have books come alive for them.
I want to give every opportunity to my students that is available to many other students; the use of technology in the classroom seems so common, but not for my students.
There simply isn't money to provide technology in my classroom, nor do these students have funds at home for such technologies. It would be amazing for the students to see how reading can come alive to them and how they can do research on the internet. Thanks for considering this request.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
