This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My middle school students are learning how to become leaders at our school and in our community. They are not letting their learning disabilities hold them back and are making plans for their future. While not every day is perfect, every single one of my students has made gains toward their personal and educational goals this school year.
My talented, creative, curious, and caring students have become a family.
I have discovered that they have truly been the "real teachers" this school year.
My Project
My special education students currently have only one computer in the classroom. With classes that vary in size from 10-20 students, we are in need of more technology. We will use Chromebooks next school year to conduct research on various topics including (but not limited to): integers, equations, cells, health topics, the carbon cycle, and community involvement. Students will conduct research in small groups and will present their research to the class. Students also will participate in interactive class activities/assignments using Google classroom.
My students enjoy using technology as a tool in their learning, but it has been difficult with limited resources.
Students will also use Chromebooks for typing assignments in class and playing educational games, such as on the website Kahoot. Please help my inquisitive students acquire the technology they need to be successful.
