As you walk down the hall of our elementary school you will hear the familiar sounds of students learning. In my class you will hear the sounds of students' brains hard at work as they collaborate with each other in reading, writing and math.
My students are very hard workers and eager learners.
They love coming to school not only to see friends but to learn and expand their knowledge too. Unfortunately our school is situated in a low income area so most of our students do not have the necessary tools and advantages that others might have. For some students the only exposure they have to books and technology is at school. I strive every year to help my students succeed. Each student has a different goal to achieve. For some students grade level progress is their goal. For others any progress is an achievement. All achievements that my students make are celebrated.
My Project
The Ipods will be used for a variety of different activities in class. My main focus at this point in time is to use the Ipods in a small group setting. In a small group instructional setting students can use the Ipods for activities like practicing math facts, using different manipulative apps to help solve math problems, reading sight words, listening to stories, and practicing letter sounds.
This project will make a difference to my students by allowing them to have another way of learning.
Using technology, such as Ipods, to enhance my instruction will give all my students another way to absorb and interact with information. We live in a world where technology is all around us. It would benefit my students greatly to be able to use this wonderful and ever expanding technology in their classroom.
