This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is incredibly diverse! I teach in an area of Houston that is undergoing a lot of changes and is faced with some unique challenges. I have students from many countries in Central and South America as well as native Houstonians across social classes.

Our goal is to be bilingual, bicultural and biliterate!

My dual language classroom is dynamic and inclusive. My students learn Spanish and English simultaneously and encourage one another to step out of their comfort zone and learn a new language.

My Project

Having two tablets would help me integrate literacy and technology!

80% of the students in my campus are economically disadvantaged,

this means they lack access to the internet and technology. With these tablets my students will be able to read ebooks and interact with education apps such as reading A-Z, NatGeo Kids and Discovery education. Interacting with technology will not only help their academic skills but also will set them up for success in our fast paced society that relies on technology to advance.

We also need the read along kit for our listening station, we currently lack read along books with CDs that will model reading for my students.

These materials will allow me to provide my students with a listening station that has a variety of reading materials for students to choose from.
