My Students
Some students need a hook to read a book! Kindles may be that technology tool that helps to "hook" students to engage with text, motivating them to read!
The population of students we service are fifth and sixth grade children that struggle with reading.
They are great kids, but often have difficulty engaging and sustaining stamina while reading. Part of our job is to help children develop a love and passion for reading. We hope kindles may help to achieve this goal.
My Project
In our changing world of increased technology, students need opportunities to experience using technological devices. Kindles will not only enable enhancement of technology skills, but will help to differentiate instruction for some of our weakest readers. A variety of books will be purchased for the Kindles to assist in offering choice and to help motivate our students to read.
Developing strong reading skills is crucial and fundamental to future learning.
Educators need to offer current, differentiated ways to achieve this goal. If Kindles can help to inspire a handful of students to increased reading, it will help them to make gains in all areas of their academic life.
