Technology for Language Acquisition and Proficiency
Help me give my students the technology and security they need with Chromebooks and charging station to successfully use their language program and become fluent English speakers and readers.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are mostly ESOL level 1 and 2s. They do not speak English and are new to the country. They are an eclectic group with diverse learning styles. They are enthusiastic and ready to learn in spite of the tough neighborhood and harsh circumstances that they come from. Many of them are new to the country and are in dire need of language skills acquisition. Our school has a high percentage of immigrant children who come from low income homes and have no access to computers at home. I am sure that if they are given the opportunity to fill this skill deficit, they will surpass the expectations and become successful students. They are a hard working bunch, and I am sure that they can reach their goals.
My Project
Our class needs Chromebooks and a charging station in order to access the English Language program they are required to complete. My students are predominantly English Language Learners who are required to complete an online program that helps them achieve proficiency in the English language. This is key for them to be successful at all of the other subjects in school. My students are hard workers and are very motivated to learn and show their maximum potential. These materials will help my students achieve their goals of becoming proficient in the English language and being successful in all other core subjects. They have shown that they are motivated and inspired to be at the top of the class in spite of their limitations due to language barriers.
