Those you think cannot... can! That is the motto that my school lives by. I have the honor of working in the media center of a special needs school that services students ages 3-21 with severe intellectual disabilities.
My students are some of the most amazing people you will meet.
My students range from age 3-21 and they all have severe intellectual disabilities- many of them also have physical disabilities. Many of the students at my school are non-verbal and use technology to communicate their needs and answer questions. Students love to come up to the Promethean Board and answer questions or use the iPad with the help of the Doceri app.
My Project
This laptop will allow our students better access to the curriculum we use as well as help them communicate their needs and wants. Since some of our students our home-bound, they miss out on the activities happening at school. This laptop, webcam, and tripod will allow them to experience school activities from home as well as give them access to read-alouds.
Our students struggle with the things most of us take for granted.
These items will not only give our students who come to school access to the outside world but will also give our home-bound students access to school activities.
More than half of students from low‑income households
