This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from a low-income inner-city neighborhood in Houston, Texas, that serves kids from PK-8th grade. The majority of them are first-generation immigrants. Despite having limited resources, my students persevere and are eager to learn. I have witnessed them walk in the pouring rain just to come to Saturday tutorials because that is how important their education is to them. They take ownership of their learning and would benefit from having increased access to technology in our classroom this coming year.
My Project
Like most inner-city schools, we have a lack of technology. Thanks to DonorsChoose.org, last year our classroom received four HP Chromebooks. It is truly empowering for my students to have access to technology since the majority don't have access to computers at home.
My goal is to have enough computers for every student in my classroom.
Having Chromebooks will help my students develop essential skills. My students will use the HP Chromebooks for personalized learning, accessibility, cultural relevance, efficiency, and performance. As well, as it will enable them to have access to math educational websites such as Prodigy, Khan Academy, and Imagine Math.
Thank you for believing in what we are doing in our classroom.
