This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an STEM educator, I continuously think of ways and resources that can help my students increase level of interest towards learning and increase mastery and achievement.

The use of digital technology can greatly enhance the teaching and learning in a different way.

We are asking for iPads that be used in our after school program called MESA (Math, Science, Engineering Achievement) and in preparing for Science Fair projects. New technology is quite expensive to implement, and our school has limited resources to provide them for us. Abstract concepts can be much more engaging and exciting when students learn at their own pace. Having iPads is one way of addressing needs of students in an equitable classroom where all students because they are provided with equal access to learning resources thus, feel valued.

The use of technology in classrooms helps students achieve mastery and show greater depth of understanding, complete tasks much faster, and improve literacy skills among students. By learning to use technology in the classroom, both teachers and students will develop skills essential for the 21st century. But most especially, students will develop or hone their analytical and critical thinking skills that are helpful in achieving success in the future like coding and programming, investigation, and problem-solving.
