My Students

My students receive speech/language therapy to improve their communication and language processing skills. They work hard to achieve their speech/language goals and are very proud of themselves when they see their improvement. Their population is varied, with students from the military, students attending Title 1 schools, and students with socioeconomic challenges.

The students I work with are motivated to improve their ability to interact and communicate with their peers and adults so they can be successful in the classroom.

They respond actively to technology and interacting directly with their peers in the speech/language therapy room. They respond best to fun, interactive games and lessons. I want my students to make as much improvement as quickly as they are able.

My Project

My students respond very well to technology. The iPad will give them access to activities for their speech sounds, reading comprehension, and methods to talk when non-verbal. I travel to several schools. The iPad is very portable and allows me to have many more activities available than I do now.

Students engage more quickly with the iPad and will improve their communication skills faster, allowing them to interact in the classroom and community with confidence.

They also become more effective with telling people exactly what they want or need. The students, when more confident, interact with others more easily. They are more eager to join activities than when they first started therapy. The iPad will be a staple in my arsenal of therapy activities.
