My Students

My school focuses on raising children to be "global citizens" who are exposed to all different types of cultures and traditions. Our Winter Concert this year is based on world peace featuring songs from many countries like Ghana, Chile, France, and China as well as poetry about how we can achieve peace. This school year the students will be learning how to play piano (C,D, E, F, and G), play the ukulele (2 or 3 chords), master the ability to recognize and demonstrate a steady beat, identify and utilize their 4 voices, and read quarter notes, eighth notes, half notes, quarter rests, and half rests. My students are tremendously diverse in terms of background, race, religion, tax bracket, and personality.

My Project

The access to an iPad will open up a world of music and visuals to all of my students, many of which have no other way of reaching these programs and recordings. The iPad will help my students become more musically literate, while also helping me organize student work, grades, keynotes, and video/audio recordings. Music is an art that happens in real time so audio recordings to track students' singing progress to programs that allow students to write and arrange music would be game-changers. By donating to our project you will not only help improve student achievement, but also help grow my students into life-long music-makers and appreciators.
