My Students
I teach Reading/Language Arts in a Title 1 school in Liberty City, Miami. My students are intrinsic motivated learners. Despite facing numerous challenges daily in their community, they are avid, and passionate learners. They are excited about using technology in class and at home to improve their reading skills. In addition to iReady, which is the required district program, my students enjoyed using the internet for other educational apps and inquiry-based projects to become better writers and thinkers.
Unfortunately, many students in my classroom do not have computers at home to reach their goals and enhance their reading skills.
My Project
I urgently need four Chromebooks to allow my students to benefit from iReady online instruction and other educational websites especially informational texts in the STEM fields.
The online lessons challenge all types of students, both emerging and advanced readers.
Furthermore, the programs are interactive and adaptive. They also capture students' attention and encourage them to stay on task.
These Chromebooks will facilitate differentiated instruction and enable all students to practice their reading skills daily. Students will be able to use them individually, in small groups, and with partners for collaborative learning.
They can be checked out for use in the homes. Using technology at a young age means that computers and other devices cease being confusing and become comfortable information assistants. It is my hope that they will help my students develop their aptitude to become critical thinkers and long-life learners.
My students must have access to technology to become successful learners. Using technology will allow them to increase their desire to become motivated and proactive learners. It will also enable them to progress at their own space while receiving immediate feedback.
