This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember when teachers made you study flashcards and write things down over and over again using paper and pencils? Technology makes learning more fun. I have implemented the use of electronics to support teaching math and reading for learning disabled students. Please help us with your donation.
My students are identified as having learning disabilities and require individualized/group assistance.
We are located in a district considered below poverty level with an enormous amount of minority and bilingual students. Our school is located in the South Bronx by the famous Bronx Zoo. Teachers at this school care so much we purchase as much as we can but it can only go so far. My students have started using the device with the math and reading apps and have begun to make progress. Children learn so much faster with technology and we would like to take advantage of that. The students need the device for these types of apps geared towards learning. We even purchased apps in Spanish and for ESL to help students acquire a second language.
My Project
My students need 4 iPod Touch devices. The use of the device in the resource room classroom has been showing great promise. Children are addicted to technology so why not put it to good use? Students are beginning to remember their multiplication charts, including older students with retention issues, spelling has improved, and some fluency is improving, as well. Students can take turns with iPods. They take turns but would love to have their own so they may compete against each other more effectively and, at times, privately. Thank you so much for your consideration in donating towards this project.
Children need individualized help to assist them with dealing with their disabilities.
This is where the iPods will help. Technology has been shown, when used correctly, to improve scores as well as self-esteem. It's hard enough dealing with a disability. Will you help me get these wonderful students caught up with their peers?
