This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In my special education classroom you will find kind, sweet, eager little minds excited to learn! They are smart and when engaged love numbers, books, puzzles, and most especially praise. Like all of us, they just want to be accepted. My students’ are in kindergarten, first, and second grade. They have challenging behaviors, which interfere with their ability to participate in a general education setting. My goal is to provide my students with the tools, skills, and strategies, so they may begin to participate in mainstream classrooms.
My students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Despite the many challenges they face, they come to school each and every day eager to learn and do their best. But how can I do my best when I do not have access to the needed materials? How can we help them succeed when we do not have the necessary tools to meet their developmental needs?
My Project
Technology in my classroom will enable me meet my students individual learning needs and personalize their learning experiences. The use of technology in my classroom will open up a variety of opportunities and approaches that will engage, instruct, and support my special learners. My eager learners will use these tablets to listen to stories, identify letters and sounds, engage in math activities, foster cognitive language and motor skill development, develop phonemic awareness, enhance auditory and visual processing, and practice social skills.
We live in a technology driven society, and my students deserve the same opportunities as their peers.
Technology will help reduce the barriers my students face and level the playing field.
My 21st Century learners need 21st Century skills and tools, so they can be self-directed learners, critical thinkers, college and or career ready, considerate ethical citizens and globally competitive. "Equity in education" needs to be a priority in our schools and state. Everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their academic potential.
