Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Starting middle school is a daunting experience--learning locker combinations, navigating crowded hallways, remembering to follow the schedule and learn all the teachers' names! But in the end close friends were made and a new found confidence was gained. But what about the students starting middle school this year? The remote start to this school year is a whole new experience for everyone. Will my students be able to make those close friends and gain that confidence as they did in years past?

Despite the impersonal nature of online learning, my students have shown a willingness to share their diverse experiences with each other and have shown a vulnerability that would normally be reserved for in-person encounters.

This is what makes them so special! They are resilient in this time of so many unknowns. And I hope that their willingness to share will carry them forward into those new friendships that so many of us remember from middle school.

My Project

I will be using the AirPods in the classroom during Zoom with my academic classes. The speakers will be used with my advisory classes when they are physically in the class.

Even though we are physically returning to school, academic classes will still be conducted virtually through Zoom.

The AirPods will help me move around the classroom to help the advisory students who are on Zoom with their own academic classes while I still attend to my own Zoom class. The mobility of the AirPods should help me multi-task between the physically present advisory students and the virtual academic students.
