My students are from a low socioeconomic environment. They are very eager and enthusiastic about learning despite their circumstances. Our school is a low performing Title I school in Georgia. A full 100% of my students receive free or reduced price lunch. Most of my students love to learn, and are most motivated when they can use technology. Unfortunately, the one student station that I have is old, barely works, and is quite unreliable. This year only two of my students have the use of technology at home.
My Project
Tablets can help students stay up-to-date with this ever changing world. My students don't have many opportunities to use technology at school or home. Having tablets in class will help them access materials quickly when they are gathering information on Greece or doing research on their favorite animal. We need a Microsoft Pro 3 Tablet and a iPad mini tablet.
Students can use these tablets for conducting research, completing class work assignments, and doing learning tasks.
The Microsoft Surface Tablet is 50% faster than most tablets and has up to 9 hours of battery life. No longer will my students have to wait and wait for broken, low battery, and slow computers to be fixed or start up. The Surface Tablet and iPad will allow them to write papers, take videos of our experiments, and run multiple programs side by side. This improvement will enhance my students' work and overall performance.
The benefit of these devices will help to grow my students tremendously. Working with devices that are the latest and up-to-date will help my students become better readers, writers and explorers. These tablets will open a huge window of opportunity in my students' education.
