This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Hi! My second graders are a group of curious and vivacious dual language (English and Spanish) students in The Bronx. They come from very diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and they love reading books about family, community and character education. In addition, they greatly enjoy learning math and science through hands-on activities and team work. No matter the challenges they face at home and/or school, they are always willing to try again and be the best they can be.
Moreover, they are very technology oriented and love using technology to learn and to teach others about what they have learned.
That's why they really enjoy learning through interactive SmartBoard lessons and/or activities. They always look forward to using the class Smart Board to watch educational videos, complete math challenges, read e-books and even conduct cyber experiments. I love their enthusiasm for learning and how they use any and every available resource to take their learning to the next level.
My Project
our class laptop was old, outdated and ended up breaking down and we cannot use our classroom's Smart Board without it. We need a new laptop to help us continue to become better learners and teachers through the use of technology. Please help our class to continue to nurture their love for learning and technology while staying in touch with the world around them. More importantly, please help our class to continue to be engaged and use technology to be informed about current events and the latest technological/scientific advances in the world.
This laptop will make a difference in my students' learning because they will have better access to a wider range of information and learning resources that they currently do not have.
In addition, it will provide my students with several learning entry levels and/or the support they need to have better access to the information presented and to better demonstrate what they have learned. Furthermore, they could use the laptop to communicate with other classes around the country/world and be able to compare learning and life experiences, which would teach them to be more respectful and/or tolerant about different people's cultures, languages, and traditions.
Finally, having this new laptop and being able to use our classroom's Smart Board will allow my students to be more engaged and develop a better understanding of the concepts presented. As a result, they can become more involved in their learning and more confident about their abilities and accomplishments.
