My students are fun-loving, eager to learn children with special needs ranging in grades from kindergarten through first grade. They attend a K-2 self-contained Special Ed class in a public school in Queens.
My students are supported with hands-on activities and topics they enjoy.
They love to learn about animals, plants and the natural world.
Students often work in small groups to develop academic and social skills. They are learning to collaborate with their peers and share ideas and express themselves through learning experiences.
My Project
In March 2020, the Covid pandemic caused our school to go remote and each tablet in our school was loaned to our students so they could learn safely from home. Although our class returned happily to school in the fall, the tablets remain in the homes of our remote and blended students so they may continue to access remote instruction.
Apple ipads will provide technology to students with disabilities so they may research topics, engage in learning apps and provide access to digital resources during math and literacy centers in our classroom.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
