My students are hardworking children that come from impoverished homes. Many of them are the first of their families to be English language learners.
Our students come to school every day ready to learn and outdo what they have done the day before.
We set goals in each of the content areas which our students aim to achieve. This is not easy in a low income, Title l school, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the many challenges that our students face, they are always ready and excited to learn.
My Project
Many of the students in my classroom are new to the United States and do not speak English. Others have been here for 1-2 years and can speak, read, and write English but are not at 5th grade level. Having these 2 computers at their disposal will enable them to be able to work on reading skills or math skills they are struggling in independently when they have finished their classwork. Many of my students are very motivated to learn. They need extra support on their level to push them forward to the next level of achievement. For some students, these computers are the only one that are available for them to use. They do not have at home and cannot always get to the public library. Having these computers will help my struggling students progress in reading using various websites as well as math websites. My higher level students will be able to do research, reports, power point presentations and spreadsheets. It will make a real difference to every student.
