My students need a color printer/scanner and ink to copy and print images to use as inspiration for their art. They also need easy cut linoleum, a variety of colored markers and mirrors for self-portraits!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently teach at a title I elementary school with a high percentage of children from low-income families. My classroom is flourishing with talented, enthusiastic, and bright artists that love to learn. Some of my students are not English speakers and as a result find a way to communicate and express themselves differently through their art.
I want to provide my students with a variety of art materials in order to be able to experiment and problem solve with different media.
With your help, I can make this happen! Our resources are limited and we only have access to basic supplies and are in need of a few supplies to create a variety of art projects.
My Project
I want to provide students with additional materials to be able to express themselves through art. In my classroom, I have a set of tools and ink to create a wonderful printmaking project. However, I am in need of a surface for the students to carve on. I plan on using the scratch foam with the lower grade students and the easy cut linoleum for the upper grade students.
I want my students to experience the magic of the arts by experimenting with a variety of media.
The assorted colored markers are perfect to create a pointillism project because of the vibrant variety of colors!
The printer/scanner will be used to copy and print images for the students as inspiration for their art. We will also use the scanner to scan the students drawings so they can then be modified and duplicated to be used as a creative art assignment. The ink cartridges will be used to replenish once it has been exhausted.
We currently have a set of mirrors in my classroom, but we are in need of 5 mirrors so each student can use their own mirror while working on their self-portraits.
Although I am currently grateful for the basic supplies available in my class, with your help, I can provide a wider range of experiences to my students with a variety of materials and technology.
